John K. Bade

BROOKLYN- John Bade, age 72, of Brooklyn, Wis., passed away peacefully, on Saturday, April 8, 2017, in his home. He was born August 30, 1944, in Oshkosh, the only child of Arno and Elsie Bade. John married Margaret Markiewicz on October 1, 2008 in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. He graduated from UW Madison with a B.A. in chemistry and a master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering and took a job with Bock Laboratories soon after graduating. John was the senior facilities engineer for 37 years, supporting professors and graduate students in their research, while overseeing the extensive remodel and upgrade of Bock in 1998 ("50,000 feet of fun and excitement"). John loved restoring old cars, the Green Bay Packers, American Pickers, and before his stroke, he loved to garden at his home in Brooklyn. He was always up for trying new things, or a crazy new project, with beer and the neighbors. John was also a great lover of animals, especially the strays and rescues of the world. He was a dedicated husband, father, neighbor, and friend, known for his straightforwardness, his sense of humor, and colorful advice. John is survived by his wife, Margaret (Margie or Blondie); daughters, Theresa, Beckie, Amy, and Josie; and his son, Michael. He will be missed by his sons-in-laws, Chris, Tim, Eric, and Dan; and his daughter-in-law, Annie. He left behind three grandchildren, Lily, Samantha, and Alex. John is further survived by his dog, Taz; and his two cats, Gino and Mia. He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Asia, earlier this year. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday, April 14, 2017, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Please bring your stories. John will be buried at Jug Prairie Cemetery in Brooklyn, overseeing his home and property he loved so much. Following the funeral, a luncheon and celebration of John's life will be held, join us with a glass in hand, merlot or Spotted Cow, John's favorite libations, encouraged, as we toast to an incredible soul.
