Obituary

MADISON-Alan Gilbert "Cubby" Wolfe, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born in Two Rivers, Wis., on July 20, 1931, the only child of Arcel J. and Ida E. (Gilbert) Wolfe.  Cubby was a graduate of West Green Bay High School and St. Norbert College. He served our country in the US Army from 1954-1956. On June 23, 1956, Cubby married the love of his life, Elaine Grimm. He worked for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals from 1956 to 1966. In 1966, Cubby changed careers and worked for 50 years as an investment advisor and branch manager for various investment firms.  Cubby devoted much time and energy to volunteering. He served on the Edgewood High School Advisory Board which he chaired for one term and served on the Endowment Committee for over 45 years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities – Diocese of Madison and also a member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Sinsinawa Dominicans for over 40 years. In addition, he volunteered in a number of different capacities for Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, and as well, was a past president of Blackhawk Country Club.  Cubby loved people and had a way of making everyone feel special through his kindness, humor and quick wit. His greatest joy was his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and was their biggest fan and supporter. Cubby was an avid Badger and Packer fan which was passed on to his family. He and Elaine felt blessed with wonderful family, dear friends and they appreciated their prayers, messages and kind gestures. It provided them with smiles, strength and a warm heart.  Cubby is survived by his wife, Elaine, of 60 years; his three children, Kim (Scott) Schemmel of Dubuque, Iowa, Deb (Mike) Palm and Rob (Sue) Wolfe, both of Madison; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, with two more due in April and May.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CHURCH, 401 S. My sincere sympathy to the family. Cubby was the "ultimate friend"! We enjoyed golf, euchre and racquetball together for many years. Even though in recent years we did not see each other very often, we stayed in touch via e-mail. You will be missed my friend! Bill Gengler Denton, TX
