Obituary
MADISON/SUN PRAIRIE-Frank H. Carpenter, age 80, of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare with his wife by his side. He was born on July 10, 1936, the son of Herbert and Pearl Carpenter. Frank graduated from Madison East High School in 1954 and then served as meat inspector while serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Oscar Mayer after 33 years and then retired from McGovern Enterprises after 19 years, at the age of 79, due to his illness. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Sun Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 143 F. & A.M., a member of the Madison Scottish Rite Bodies, the Madison Zor Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters and the Sun Prairie American Legion Post No. 333. Frank was a devoted husband and loved his family, friends, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife Sally; two sons, Dean (Debbie) Carpenter and Dennis (Meegan) Carpenter; two daughters, Pam Landes, and Gina (Jeff) Poster; five grandchildren, Aaron, Andy, Lindsey, Ashley and Adam; and 3 1/3 great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Scott Zeasman; a brother, Bill; and two sisters, Beverly and Nancy. Funeral services will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. There will be a dinner and fellowship after the service. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, where a masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. For those who are unable to attend on Wednesday, there will be visitation at the church on Thursday two hours prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church Children's Education Program, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison WI 53716 or Shriners Hospital for Children, Minneapolis.
