Obituary
MIDDLETON-Arlene J. (Kerl) McAusland, age 89, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Heritage Senior Living in Middleton with her loving daughter, Judy, by her side. She was born in Madison, on February 14, 1928, the daughter of Edwin and Louise (Kading) Kerl. Arlene graduated from Madison East High School in 1945, and married James McAusland in 1948. She retired from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue as a clerical supervisor. Arlene loved playing cards, especially Euchre, and enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Judy McAusland (John Woodstock), sister-in-law, Doris McAusland; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin (Mary); and dear friend, Jack Brennen. Funeral services will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Arlene hired me 34 years ago at the Department of Revenue. I have fond memories of working for her for a couple of years. She taught me a lot. I eventually got a promotion to another section at DOR and have promoted a few more times since then. I'm still at the State after all these years, but have to thank her for giving me my start. So sorry for your loss. -Jodi

Arlene was a long time client of my mine at AAA Travel. I always enjoyed working with Arlene...very kind and compassionate woman. My deepest sympathy to Judy...Arlene will be truly missed.
