GREEN BAY/MADISON-Margaret "Maggie" Smith, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was born on March 16, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Poppe) Gallagher. Maggie married Eugene Smith in November, 1946. She loved spending time with her family and was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to many, many people. Maggie loved going to the casino and playing cards, especially Hearts and UNO. She was a former member of the Moose Organization. Maggie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Mueller; granddaughter, Kristen (Leah Ackerman) Mueller; grandson, Paul (Sherry Solper) Mueller; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jaime Mueller; and their mother, Carolyn Mueller; brother, Jerry Gallagher; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; son-in-law, Keith Mueller; six sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, with the Rev. Sandra Schieble presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017, and also on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Aurora Hospice and Marla Vista Assisted Living for all their kindness and excellent care. My condolences to Maggie's Family, I delivered her Newspaper(The Capital Times) in the afternoons until they were discontinued. Maggie was a very sweet friendly woman who always waived at me while she was enjoying her recliner

My Mom Millie Buege and Maggie were friends for years. I am sorry, I do not remember their story on how they met. Maggie and her husband always had cookies or some awesome desserts when we came over to visit. I am sorry for your loss. Sonja Buege Abrams

Maggie was always easy to laugh and giggle with. She had such a caring and positive attitude . Everyone loved her and cared about her. When I tried to reach her one Sunday, no one answered. I told Neil I thought maybe they were at church. When they called back, it turns out they were at the Casino having a great time together. Neil and I had a good laugh over that one.
