When I was twelve and met Jim, I heard about his new girlfriend, Jan. I remember swimming in the mouth of the Yahara where it entered the lake every year almost as soon as the ice cleared in the spring. When I left home at 16, Marsh and Helen gave me a room at 1454 Williamson St. I remember the poker games with Jim and his folks. I remember my first job at the East side café, after Jim had worked there. I remember gathering around the TV at Jim's folks house to watch some singer named Elvis that Jan had heard about. I remember growing up together and confiding boyhood thoughts with each other. I remember dances at the Park Ponderosa with Jim and Jan. Many, many more. Godspeed, old friend.- Bruce Taylor

We met Jim and Jan at the Grieg Club. He was soft spoken and had an infectious smile. He always took care of his girl by taking her Sunday morning breakfast. He was a man of few words but will be missed. God grant him peace and strength to his family at this difficult time. Kim & Ron Chamberlain
