Edward F. Johnson

STOUGHTON - Edward Frances "Junior" Johnson, 91, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born in Chicago, Ill., the son of Edward and Olga (Gumz) Johnson. Junior lived most of his life in Stoughton. He worked for nearly 40 years as a road equipment operator for the Dane County Highway Department. Junior was a resourceful man who enjoyed repairing and maintaining his vehicles or working on home improvement projects. On the weekends he would often play Euchre together with his wife and friends. Junior is survived by his wife, of almost 70 years, Ursula (Klosa) Johnson. They met at his U.S. Army buddy's wedding, in Germany, after World War II. When Ursula was diagnosed with dementia, he dedicated his life taking care of her at home. He is also survived by his sons, Ralph (Nancy) Johnson of Roseville, Minn. and Edward (Patricia) Johnson of Fitchburg; sister, Janet (Johnson) Erdahl of Sun City, Ariz.; granddaughters, Odessa (Chris) Matson, Michelle Johnson, and Laura Johnson; as well as great-grandchildren, Raegan, Colton, and Macy Matson.
