Obituary
MADISON-Raymond Williams Jr., age 92, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Dec. 7, 1924, the son of Ray and Gladys (Storey) Williams. Ray married Betty Dorman and together they enjoyed 70 years of marriage. He graduated from Madison East High School. Ray served in the U.S. Army and was proud of his military record, receiving two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. He participated in the landing at Omaha Beach on D-Day. Ray was a member of VFW Post No. 7591. He worked as a postal worker for the USPS on Milwaukee St. Ray was an avid reader and enjoyed the casino slot machines. He enjoyed traveling, with his best travel experience ever being the Badger Honor Flight, with his son, Steve, in 2011; however, what Ray enjoyed most, was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Steven (Mary) Williams, Gregory Williams, Christine (John) Holler and Phillip Williams; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LaRaine Dybevik and Karen (Jim) Schultz. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Williams. Funeral services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Dr., Monona, at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 6, 2017. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be gifted in Raymond's name to the charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Ray, my heart broke when I learned of your passing. I didn't see you much anymore, but I always knew you were there. You had such a profound affect on my young life, and the lives of my dad, mom, and sister....the late 50's/early 60's, living across the street, going on journeys out west, was a magical time in my life. You were always interested in current events, interested in people and how they spent their time. You had a wonderful laugh....and when you & my dad were together, you guys were so much fun! You & Betty might not remember this, but when I was in 4th grade and broke my leg, you guys brought over a gift~Barbie's Fashion House~what a treat! However, the best gift you two ever gave to me and my family, was the one of solid and true friendship; you feel like family. I love you and will miss you forever.
