Obituary

MADISON- Mary F. Buglass, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville, Wis. She was the fifth of seven children born to Walter and Michilina (Czyl) Fijalkowski, on Nov. 29, 1920. While growing up, her family lived in Harvey, Ill. and New Lisbon, Wis. Mary graduated from high school in New Lisbon in 1938. She moved to Madison and attended Madison Business College. She married Lloyd David Buglass on Feb. 22, 1941, and together they raised their three children, David James, Thomas Lloyd, and Georgia Ann, in the Old Market Place neighborhood in Madison. Mary was a Cub Scout den leader, and supported her children in everything they did, from scouts, to sports, to law school. She loved cats, and was happy in her later years to have her cat, "Meow" with her. Mary retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Securities in 1983. In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, attending shows at The Fireside with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In the early 1990s, Mary spent time in Chicago caring for her two youngest grandchildren. She loved to snuggle with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and read to them. Mary will be remembered for her sense of humor ('I'll have whiskey with my dinner, Dave') and her love of corn flakes with ice cream on top. Mary is survived by her sons, David (Dianne) Buglass of Argyle and Thomas Buglass of Oregon; son-in-law, William Leighton of Des Plaines, Ill.; six grandchildren, Wendy (Jeffrey) Murkve of Madison, Kristi (Ken) McDermott of Rio, Patrick Buglass of LaCrosse, Jennifer (Alex) Crowe of Naperville, Ill. and Michael and Matthew Leighton of Des Plaines, Ill.; along with seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her friend and neighbor of 50 years, Hazel Tookes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Edward, Rudolph, Peter, Sophie, Stanley, and Chester Fijalkowski; her daughter, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Toni; and her friend, Loren Enerson. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12 p.m., with a luncheon to follow. A private burial will be held at Mauston City Cemetery.
