MADISON-Susan Lee Weiss, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Oak Park Place East. She was born on Jan. 5, 1934, in Madison, the daughter of Albert and Lena Lerdahl. Susan graduated from Madison East High School in 1952, and then attended St. Olaf College. She retired as an Executive Secretary for the State of Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care. Known to many as "Suzi" she was full of vitality, vigor and love for her family and friends. Some of her favorite times were spent in Arizona with her husband, Mark. Susan is survived by sons, Richard Spilde and James (Jeff Gattis) Spilde; daughter, Karen Reid; granddaughter, Amy Spilde; grandson, Cory Vanover; great-grandson, Dylan; sister, Mary Pryzina; and brothers, Dave Lerdahl and Tom (Cindy) Lerdahl. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Mark Weiss. Special thanks to the staff of Oak Park Place East for their comfort, compassion and care for Suzi and her family. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

We go back to the 50's and early 60's. Lots of good times as couples with parties and going out to dinner, and of course card club. We kind of lost track of each other with raising our families etc. So happy to have reconnected at our 50th class reunion. May God Bless You

I wish we could be there to help you celebrate Suzi's life. Bill and I are at our annual time share stay in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, and have 3 more weeks here. In growing up the Lerdahl family and Anderson families were quite close. We lived in the basement of the Lerdahl home for 9 months when I was in second grade before finally moving to a basement apartment a block away on Center Avenue. Then when our families were young and just beginning, Sue and Dave lived next door to each other and their kids a block away all went to Hawthorne with our kids until the Spilde's moved to Spaanem. So many years ago. If you weren't aware of it, there is also a connection of note among the Davies, Lerdahl and Anderson families. Cora, Lee and Ruth all gave birth to Joan, Suzi and Bonnie in the same year and 3 years later all three gave birth to Dick, Tom and me. Bonnie died 2 years ago and now it was Sue's turn. Joan is doing well by the way.

I hit a glitch and want to add to what I've written. Sue and I were pretty close over my 79 years and we could always talk to each other about anything and everything, and did! She was always full of life even to the end, despite her quality of life diminishing without a lot of hope of that ever changing. But I think she overcame that, and I like to think she's now with those she loved in life and has found her peace. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family as they fold her into their memory. Rest in Peace Suzi!

When we were kids I would travel from Wales to Madison by train and visit my dear cousin Suzi. I don't remember where there home was in Madison but we sure had a lot of fun. Like Judy said in her statement we 3 cousins were only months apart (Me, (Joan) born in Oct., Bonnie in Nov and Suzi in Jan. I remember the family reunions as kids and adults how happy we were to see one another. The Jenson family is shrinking but we all had a life filled with the teachings of God and how to live with God in our hearts. It has saddened me that I did not keep in contact (by phone) with Suzi but she knew how much she was loved by everyone. Our daughter who passed away 3 years ago confided with Suzi many times. You will be missed our dear one and may our wonderful God wrap his arms around her dear family and friends. God be with you all. Joan (Davies) Carlson
