Obituary
MADISON-Thomas J. "Tom" Barry, Jr. passed away unexpectedly as a result of a pedestrian/vehicle accident on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. He was born on Feb. 24, 1940, to Thomas J. Sr. and Ora (Semrad) Barry who preceded him in death. Tom attended Central High School and then became a locksmith by trade. He worked tirelessly for the State of Wisconsin since 1974. Tom started his state career at the University of Wisconsin before transferring to the Wisconsin State Capitol Police in 1986. He was not only a state locksmith; he was the security guru when it came to creating keys. Tom followed the stringent key card process so strictly that he once would not issue a key to a state VIP because they did not follow proper protocol. Tom loved working for the State of Wisconsin but he also loved his time off. During his time away from work he enjoyed old cars, building race car motors, fishing, watching NASCAR and riding his bike. Tom rode his bike to work every day, no matter the weather conditions. He truly enjoyed his Friday vacation days as he would spend them with his lifelong friends reminiscing about the 'good ole days'. Tom will be missed by those friends who had the pleasure to work, play and laugh with him. "Who are you and how did you get in? I'm a locksmith and I'm a locksmith" --Leslie Nielsen. Tom ,you were my friend of 10 years. I looked forward to every winter because I knew you would be on the bus with me. We shared so many stories together. I loved the one about the car you built that was too fast! I miss telling you my fishing stories. I wish you knew what a good friend you were to me. I miss you.......................Thanks for the great friendship Vicki Krasel
