Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE-Richard D. "Dick" "Bugs" Kreuger, age 79, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Stoughton, on Nov. 22, 1937, the son of Harold and Selma (Midthun) Kreuger. He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. For 50 plus years he made a career running the family farm on Rinden Road. Richard was a regular at Sunday morning breakfast at Nora's, Sunday night Midget races in Sun Prairie during the summer months, enjoyed helping the Olson brothers during the fall harvest and always was ready to take a ride in his truck to "window farm." During tobacco delivery time you could find him working the warehouse in Stoughton accepting deliveries. Richard loved sneaking in time to play slot machines or a game of cribbage whenever he could. He appreciated spending time with his grandchildren who had a love of the farm and cherished taking them on rides on his tractor or 4-wheeler. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene (Holtan) Kreuger; sons Dale (Stacy Lins) and Michael (Kristine Urban); daughters, Julie (Jon) Kreuger Skjolaas and Susan (Jeff) Bush; and eight grandchildren, Megan and McKenzie Kreuger, Michael and Alex Kreuger, Kristian Kreuger Skjolaas and Mika, Orin and Elli Bush. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother last November, Ronald "KO" Kreuger; and two infant brothers, Howard and Robert. Funeral services will be held at WEST KOSHKONONG LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1911 Koshkonong Rd., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Hwy 51, Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. I always liked Dick. Many times a day-he would always wave at me or sometimes have a little chat out by the shed. All of his family has my sympathy. He enjoyed the grand-kids -giving them rides around the farm. It sure will not be the same next summer around that farm. Too much has happened in such a short time for the Kreuger family. It is so sad..
