Frances C. Piper

VERONA - Frances C. “Fran” Piper, age 76, of Verona, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at Badger Prairie Health Care Center, just three days shy of her 77th birthday. She was born on Oct. 24, 1944, in Madison, the daughter of Thomas and Naomi (Bartz) Fiedler. Fran graduated from Madison West High School with the class of 1962. She worked as a registered nurse for St. Mary's Hospital where she lovingly cared for her patients for over 20 years until her retirement. Family was the most important to Frances. She adored her grandchildren; they were truly her pride and joy. She loved the warmth and magic of Christmas and the traditions her family made over the years. Fran was also an avid Badgers fan. Fran is survived by her children, Laurel "Laurie" (Sean) Crall and Drew Piper; grandchildren, Jordan (Courtney) Howerton, Benjamin Crall and Dylan Piper; great-grandchildren, Lylah and Tatum Howerton; brother-in-law, Warren Finn; and nieces, Erika and Kirsten. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Judith Finn. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona.
