Delpha Dolores Frion

Delpha D Frion – Passed away peacefully on February 5, 2017. Delpha was born on March 10, 1932 to Helen and Lloyd Normington. She and her husband Leon were married over 58 years. She is survived by her husband Leon. Her six children, Mike (Dawn) Frion, Joan Frion, Dan Frion, Randy (Wenda) Frion, Tammy (Dave) Damon and Pam (Brian) Priegel. Delpha is further survived by ten Grandchildren – and numerous Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Granddaughter and her Fiancé, Amy and Brandon. Mom was a worker. At a young age she began this life journey working every step of the way. She worked hard and earned her way. She would never be afraid to tell you that. In her younger years, she earned her way as a waitress, and took pride in waitressing at the Hoffman House. One of Madison's most elite restaurants. She worked many jobs throughout her life from making potato chips at Red Dot, slaughtering pigs at Oscar Meyers, filing papers at WPS, bagging popcorn at Badger Popcorn, and cooking at Badger Bowl. She spent many years doing in home day care. Working hard every step of the way. Her most rewarding work, however was her family. Raising six children in itself being the hardest! Especially those boys!!! We have stories, but I won't bring them up here. Most of you know the stories anyway. All joking aside, Mom taught us all to work hard, and always told us it will pay off. Mom had strict strong German parenting skills. We had chores, had to go to school, graduate from school, get a job. We learned to work hard just like she did. Mom believed in helping those in need along the way. She would make you a deal. She always had the "sock" just in case someone needed a little extra help. But, knowing it was a deal, and when you were in better straits, you need to fill the "sock" back up!! With Mom and Dad's hard work they, with their two hands, built the cabin. Every summer since 1963 we spent our weekends as a family at the cabin. Mom was very particular in the way she like things at the cabin. The curtains, decorations and furniture fixed just so. No clutter and everything had its place. As adults we continue to utilize the cabin in the summers. Although, Mom's health didn't allow her to travel to the cabin very much in the past years, she was sure to tell us to continue to do the hard work to keep the cabin to her liking. You see Mom, she had this magic power. Even though she wasn't there to actually inspect the hard work, we actually really did it!!! Hard work and magic power. That is our Mom. She had this magic power. We never saw anything like it. It allowed her to "always win" at Dejope. Poor Dad, always lost and Mom would always tell us how much she won! We never did hear how much money she put in the machines, but she was sure proud to say she won! Oh, how Mom loved her music. And, she was very musically inclined. Boy, she could play the Beer Barrel Polka on the accordion like no other! She could play the Yellow Rose of Texas on the organ, hit the high note on the harmonica and pick and grin the hell out of a guitar! She could yodel a tune and she even once made a record from winning a talent show as a teenager. You have to understand, Mom didn't know how to read a note! She had this amazing ability to "play by ear". Yet, another Magic Power. Dedication to her family, proud of each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was just shy of 85 years of darn hard work. In the last two and a half months Mom's hard work was fighting this terrible disease, Cancer. She fought to be sure all her business was taken care of, to be sure she told everyone to be sure and take care of Dad. She had come to terms with her demise, but she never worked so hard and fought up until she couldn't do it anymore. But, she did it the hard way, but her way. And, finally her hard work was done. But not her magic power. Oh no...Not ever. Her magic power is not just us kids doing what we know she wants done. Her magic power is the legacy of her love and determination that will continue to carry on through all of her children. We will always carry with us, and have taught our own children, the value of hard work and how hard work positively effects family and the support and love to one another. Mom would say Family is not perfect, but family is family. Mom was strong willed and not really a touchy-feely type of person. But her heart was as big as gold when it came to her family and friends. And we all knew it! You will be greatly missed by all who loved you.
