Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - Linda Kay Vial, age 56, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017. She was born on March 29, 1960, in Madison. Linda graduated from LaFollette High School in 1978, and married Terry Vial in 1983. For the last 35+ years Linda devoted her life to the children of Cottage Grove, running multiple childcare centers, and for the last 11+ years as the owner and founder of Kids Safari Learning Center. She enjoyed traveling the world with her friends and spending time with her family, especially at the cabin. Linda never went through a day without a smile on her face, or laughter in her voice. She touched so many lives, was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Linda may have been born with a hole in her heart, but her life proved she also had one of the biggest. Linda is survived by her husband, Terry; son, Tim (Brooke); daughter, Kaley (Keaton Uphoff); and her grandson, Jace, the joy of her life. She is further survived by her parents, Don and Judith Klongland; brother, Kurt Klongland; sisters, Julie (Keith) Ginther and Beth (Greg) Horstmeier; in-laws, Elmo and Lois Vial; many nieces and nephews, and the thousands of children whom she gave hugs to throughout her life. Linda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Oscar and Myrtle Klongland and Carl and Elizabeth Freund. A Memorial Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017. The Celebration of Linda's life will continue at The Eastside Club, 3735 Monona Dr., Madison, beginning at 3p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, for a fund to be established in Linda's name. My memories of Linda are about the love she shared with every parent and child that she devoted her time to when I started taking my son Jordan to Learning Ladder. She understood how hard it was for a parent to drop off their child for the first time. She comforted me many times through difficult mornings of separation from my son. Linda gave everyone the same love with her calm, caring and reassuring words. Linda was an inspiration in my life.

There are truly are no words to describe the devastating loss of such an amazing woman. The world is missing out but heaven has gained an angel. Linda is by far one of the greatest, loving, caring and most amazing people that I was ever blessed to have had in my life. She would give the shirt off of her back to anyone in need whether she knew them or not. Her smile was contagious, and her hugs were full of love. I am fortunate enough to have had 17 years of not only being an employee and coworker, but a family member, and friend of hers. She will be greatly missed by all. If it were not have been for you Linda, and your faith in me I would not be where I am today, and for that I thank you. To the Vial family, my heart breaks for you all. Hold dearly all of the amazing times you've shared together. I hope you find strength in this tragedy. I love and care for you all deeply.
