Steven Lynn Hatleberg

MADISON-After his second battle with cancer, Steven Lynn Hatleberg passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017.  He leaves behind his wife Jill, daughter Annie Coffman (Skyler), sister Janet (Lalia Rach), and brother Loren (Salli Martyniak).  He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Mary Jane Hatleberg.  A lifelong resident of Madison, Steve was born on January 27, 1946.  He grew up on the East side and graduated from Central High School.  He proudly served his country in Vietnam, and then built a long career in landscaping, which included over 20 years with the Bruce Company and his own pruning service.  He hated hibernating in the winter and was most content when there was work to be done outside.  He had an innate curiosity and appreciation for all the gifts of nature.  If asked about a bird, insect, tree, plant, stars or planet, he could usually tell you all about it. Steve was good natured and generous.  Those who knew him well will inevitably remember something that he did for them.  He was a very special one-of-a-kind-husband, father, brother and friend. At Steve's request, there will be no memorial service.  We will remember him in life and keep him in our hearts.
