Marion M Mecum

MADISON-Marion "Bing" Mecum, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at his home with his loving family surrounding him. He was born on April 18, 1943, in Lone Rock, the son of George and Joyce (Reed) Mecum. Bing graduated from Lone Rock High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in Vietnam from 1964-1965. Bing married Patricia Henick on Sept. 25, 1966, in Fullerton, Ca. After his military service, Bing went to work for Oscar Mayer and drove truck throughout the Midwest, retiring after 32 years. Bing is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia; children, Marlene Mecum of Madison and Martin (Kim) Mecum of Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Brandyn Mecum, Kyle (Keira) Mikkelson, Amber Webb, Sean Webb, Ivan Mecum, Audra Mecum, Kenzie Mecum, Macyn Mecum; six brothers and sisters; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mark and Ken; and a sister, Patricia. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, with military honors conducted at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday.
