Obituary

MADISON – Walter A. Keller, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017. He was born on June 9, 1931, in Wonewoc, WI, the son of Leo and Florence (Bauer) Keller. He was united in marriage to Joan Taylor on June 9, 1956. Walter proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Walter worked for Dairy Equipment Co. for 40 years before retiring. Walt could create or refurbish anything. He always tried to make fun creations to be enjoyed by his family. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Walter is survived by his son, Ron (Julia) Keller of McFarland; daughter, Julie (Rick) Winch of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Beth Ann (Ahmed) Herr, Mark Herr, Amy (Aaron) Queck, Samantha Brooks, Brittani (Trevor) Thompson, Erik Brooks, Jonathan (Hannah) Winch, and Luke Keller; great-granddaughter, Amina; sister, Dene Wherwein; and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; daughter, Suzanne Herr; and many other loving family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH AT THE ST. JAMES CHURCH, 1128 St. James Court, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery with military honors being conducted. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
