Michael Mitchell

MADISON-Michael R. Mitchell, age 53, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at his home. He was born on Aug. 1, 1963, at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., the son of Robert and Marie (Hull) Mitchell. He married Beth Walzer on Sept. 25, 1993, in Rock Falls, Ill. Mike attended Woodhaven High School and Northern Michigan University. He moved to Madison in 1999 with his family and worked at AFLAC and was in asset protection for Best Buy. Mike was an incredibly loving and dedicated husband, father, son and friend. He never met a stranger. Mike was the life of the party and always had a joke ready. He was very proud of his family, and his daughter, Brittany was the joy of his life. Mike had the biggest heart and will be dearly missed by all. Mike is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter, Brittany; his parents; sister, Linda (Michael Russet) Fulford; sister-in-law, Becky (Randy) Traub; brothers-in-law, Larry (Beda) Walzer and Michael Walzer; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Arnie Johnson; many special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and a great number of friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and uncle. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, with the Rev. Pat Siegler presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family.
