James August Haight

FITCHBURG/OREGON-James August Haight, age 80, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare surrounded by his family. He was born on Aug. 26, 1936, in Madison, the son of William "Joe" and Rachel (Steinhauer) Haight. Jim attended Oregon Schools and was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison. He worked for Wisconsin Telephone for six years and was a Case farm equipment dealer for six years before becoming a service rep for 24 years. Jim also did some traveling and training for Case retiring in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, stamps, coins and playing cards; especially Euchre. He is survived by his lifetime partner, Diane Christensen; five children, Vicki (John) Wuebben, Greg Haight, Christine (David) Holappa, David (Deb Lisser) Christensen and Steven (Stephanie) Christensen; and five grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Wuebben, Steven and Sarah Holappa and Nora Christensen; sister Elizabeth Cowan; brother William (Marsha) Haight; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Robert. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Agrace HospiceCare.
