COTTAGE GROVE-Joan E. Heiman, age 82, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at home. She was born on Feb. 6, 1934, in Deerfield, the daughter of John and Johanna (Skar) Anderson. She married Eugene A. Heiman on July 20, 1951. Joan was always proud to be a "small town girl" from Deerfield. She was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Joan loved to bowl and was on a league with her sister Marion for many years. After bowling she traveled on bus tours/trips with friends and also took many trips with her daughter Ellen to visit family throughout the country. Most of all Joan enjoyed time with her family. Holidays were her favorite times for all to get together. Joan is survived by her son, Gene (Patricia) Heiman; daughters, Ellen (Randall) Kiel and Lori (Chris) Neft; grandchildren Jason (Nicole) Heiman, Chad Heiman (Erika Haeselich), Christine Albiter, Amanda (Chris) Perkins, Amy (Steven) Surrarrer, Kyle Kiel (Marina Severns – finance), Aaron (Jessica) Larson, Courtney (Andy) Lesar and Zach Neft (finance Cecilla Font Araiza); and great-grandchildren Nathan, Sofia, Abigail and Elena Heiman, Christopher and Isabella Albiter, Caleb Stedman, Ethan and Evelyn Perkins and Finleigh Larson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; sister, Marion Osterlie; and brothers, John and James Anderson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, with Pastor Bernt Tweit presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. I would like to express my deepest my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of Joan Heiman, I am truly sorry for the lost that your family is feeling. Experiencing the lost of a beloved family member is one of the hardest things that any of us can go thru. And because of that my thoughts and prayers are with your family. Take comfort in knowing that God never intent for us to deal with sickness or death. But have assure in this wonderful promise that God holds out to us. He promise each of us that very soon he is going to reunite us back with all those loved ones that we have lost. (John 5:28,29) Until that time, cherish all the wonderful memories that you have of Mrs. Joan. These precious memories will console the family in the day's ahead.
