Obituary

MADISON-Joan A. Davidson, age 82, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly at Meriter Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. Joan was born on Aug. 15, 1934, in Richland Center, the youngest of three daughters, born to Homer and Agnes (Pederson) Madsen. Joan lived a storybook childhood amongst the beautiful rolling hills of Richland Center. Yet her sights were set on the big city of Madison and shortly after graduation from high school, her spirited self packed up a few belongings, found a small apartment downtown overlooking James Madison Park, and landed a job within walking distance at the State Office Building. It wasn't long before she met her one and only, her sweet Kenny, and on Aug. 28, 1954, their promise to love one another 'til death do us part' was sealed. They raised their four children on the east side of Madison where she was involved in community, church and every aspect of her children's lives. She was a room mother, served on the PTA, was a Brownie leader, she sang in the church choir, proudly attended every possible school function and cheered above all others at each and every athletic event. She was fulfilled in her professional life working with her best friends for 20 years at Transceiver NW. And most importantly, her home was a happy home. She loved a good game of bridge. She loved a good joke and could tell one like none other. She loved to recite poems from childhood days gone by. She loved vodka on the rocks. She loved an Olive Garden salad. She loved crossword puzzles and word games. She loved Wisconsin sports. She loved her family above all else. Mom, you were the first person who ever loved us and the one who loved us the longest. We will love you and miss you forever. Joan is survived by her children, Kyle (Connie) Davidson, Kent (Sue) Davidson, Kim (Lyle) Krall and Kerri (Paul) Pearson; grandchildren, Joshua, Patrick, Jennesa, Jackie, Alex, Kelsey, Jordan, Matt, Paige and Melanie; great-grandson, Oliver; sister, Bonnie Jourdan; in-laws, Elwood (Doreen) Davidson and Esther Gerber; and many loving and caring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenny; parents; granddaughter, Tara Davidson; and sister, Mary Ann McCauley. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. "The sweetest sounds to mortals given are heard in Mother, Home and Heaven." Lots of Love to all of the Davidson Family. I am so saddened by this news of your Mom's passing. I feel as though I lost my 2nd Mother! Your Mom was always so sweet to us "Littel" kids. We had so much fun growing up across the street from you all. I hope all the memories of growing up on Bob-O-Link Lane bring you comfort and peace. I hope your parents reunion in heaven is a blessed one. Bea and the entire Littel family send their most sincere condolences. Hugs to you all. Kathy Littel Kopf

Kerri and family, Mark and I are so sorry for the loss of your mother. I remember her and your dad fondly during my years at Sentry. They were always so kind, funny and caring. Kerri, as you may know, I lost my mom two weeks ago. It's tough, and there will be a flood of emotions. However, her spirit lives on in all of you. Thinking of you and sending strength to get through the days ahead.

Kenny and Joan lit up the room with their enthusiasm at Xmas when we were growing up. Then all gathered round with ForMor to sing carols. Sublime! Steve Davidson

I remember Joan and Kenny from my childhood days spent with our Lake Edge Lutheran families; they were always fun, caring and loving people...characteristics that shine on in their children! Peace and love to the Davidson family.
