Obituary
MONONA/MADISON-Thomas Edward Dalton, age 65, of Monona, passed away at home on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on Jan. 13, 1952, in Paxton, Ill., the son of James and Shirley (Burtle) Dalton. He married Patricia Ann Prenot on April 15, 1972, in Monona. Thomas graduated from Monona Grove High School and then worked for the CNW/UP Railroad as a conductor for over 35 years. He loved hunting, fishing, music and playing cards, especially Poker. Thomas was an incredibly loving person with the biggest heart. He loved telling jokes and made many friends over the years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Thomas is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia; sons, Ken (Jamie), Kyle, Travis (Sara), Jim (Stephanie); and daughter Katie; grandchildren, Andrew, Kasidi, Paige, Caden, Abigail and Curtis; twin brother, Ron (Jean); brother, J.D. (June); mother, Shirley; dear friends, Dean, Mike and John; and many other buddies too numerous to count. He was preceded in death by his father, James; and grandson, Mason. Funeral services will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Rd., Monona, at 1 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017. Memorials may be directed to Agrace HospiceCare. My sincerest condolences to the Dalton family.Tom was a great coworker and friend who was always fun to be around. We shared lots of laughs over the years, even when times were occasionally tough.
I always enjoyed doing some guitar picking with him also.He will be deeply missed.

My condolences to the Dalton family on Tommy's passing. Tommy was a terrif guy. I spent my first 6 years of railroading in Janesville and worked with Tommy quite a bit on the afternoon GM Plant job. Always ate good those days! RIP Dinky.
