Obituary
MADISON-Linda May Short passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016. Linda was born on May 22, 1953 in Greenwood, Wis. to Herb and Erna (Vangsnes) Schendel. Having spent her early childhood on the family farm in Greenwood, Linda developed a love for people, animals, and the outdoors. In grade school, she and her family moved to Reedsburg and later moved to Madison. Linda attended Orchard Ridge Elementary School and attended Memorial High School (Class of '72). Linda attended Madison Area Technical College and pursued a degree in laboratory science. She was hired by Cereal Crops Research/Barley and Malt Lab where she completed her 40 year career as a lab technician 3. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family at home and at her cottage up north. She had a special love for children, especially her two grandchildren Wynne and Sawyer. She loved her dog companions Ryley and Bailey. Linda was always taking care of others. She enjoyed her lawn and flowers whether it was maintaining her own or helping others. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. We will miss her cute jokes and whimsical ways; like her little farckle people under the bed and matching holiday pajamas with the ones she loved. She is survived by her husband, Steve, of 40 wonderful years; two daughters, Tracy Short (Daniel Heinritz) and Tera (Ryan) Browning; two grandchildren Wynne and Sawyer Browning; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Cora Bullock, and granddaughter McKenna Heinritz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. Burial will be held at St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Ridgeway. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. I will always remember Linda for a great generous person she was. She was always their to listen. Always Thinking of other. I will miss our talks. We shared many laughs and tears. She had a large heart and always was happy to see me with a smile. I will miss her hugs and peace and comfort she gave. She loved her family. I will miss my friend, I loved her like family.
