Arlene Y. Anderson

MONONA- Arlene Y. Anderson, age 89, of Monona, passed away into the loving hands of her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at her home. It was most appropriate that she found peace during her favorite holiday season. Arlene was born on March 12, 1927, in Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Emma (Mason) Harrison. She will be lovingly remembered by her children – cherished mother of Nancy Anderson, Jim (Vicki) Anderson, and Linda (Tom Courtney) Anderson-Courtney and special grandmother to Kelsey and Sari. Arlene was preceded in death by her loving husband Russell Eugene Anderson in 1978; later by her four brothers; William, Donald, Vern and Evan; and four sisters, Dorothy, Vivian, Vera and Evelyn. Our mother devoted 38 years of her life to her youngest, special needs daughter, Nancy and for that the family is extremely proud and grateful. In addition, she was a loving, caring woman who dedicated major years of her life providing a wonderful childhood for her children and grandchildren. She also had the neatest lawn in Monona and dotted that landscape with hand painted and fired geese, swans and trolls. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Sandy Latour and Randy Harrison and many other nieces and nephews, friends, and relatives for their loving support of Arlene. The family wishes to acknowledge the care given by the staff of Home Health United Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care. A private memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. In memory of Arlene, we ask that persons donate to an organization (such as Special Olympics WI) or more importantly, personally do something special that will bring joy to a disabled person in need of assistance.
