Gaylord Carr

LODI-Gaylord Carr, age 90, of Lodi, went home to be with his Lord on December 21, 2016. He lived in Lodi for 26 years, the last 4 months he was at Good Samaritan Society – Lodi. He was born on January 25, 1926, in Sandusky, Sauk County to Floyd and Helen Carr. Gaylord graduated from Ithaca High School in 1944. On September 9, 1950, he married Druscilla Roselle Tachon at St. James Lutheran Church in Verona, WI. They began their married life managing the family farm in Richland County. During those years Gaylord was active with the Gideons. His strong faith also led him to be an active church member throughout his life. In 1964, they moved to Madison, where Gaylord worked for the University of Wisconsin as a supervisor of mechanical maintenance. After retirement, Gaylord and Druscilla moved to Lodi where they became members of Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church. Throughout his life, Gaylord enjoyed hunting and fishing in Wisconsin, the Western States and Canada. Time spent with friends and family, especially his grandchildren, was important to him. He is survived by his wife, Druscilla; 2 daughters, Melody (Gary) Ganz of Illinois, and Debbie (Bill) Elsing of Lodi WI; 4 grandchildren, Nathan Ganz and Elizabeth (Jake) Dorman both of Illinois, Melinda Elsing (fiancé Haewook Lee) both of Seoul, South Korea, and Ross Elsing, Lodi; 3 great-grandchildren all of Illinois and Rikki Joutras, who he often referred to as his adopted granddaughter; brother-in-law, Gordon Tachon, Belleville, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gaynold Rentz Brown; brothers-in-law, Harry (Jeannette) Tachon and Edgar (Agnes) Tachon, and sister-in-law, Delores Tachon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at LAKE WISCONSIN EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, Lodi. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 9 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the Mount Horeb Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund or the Good Samaritan Society-Lodi.
