Marlys J Awes

Hello to the family of Marlys Joann Awes. Your beautiful tribute moved me and now as I write, I write with tears. Her suffering is over, but a new emptiness sets in for all of you. Vern, I think you are the person I knew at Augsburg in the early '50s and I remember you as an enthusiastic and capable leader. You and Marlys shared years of ministry--hers and yours. I know that the hundreds and hundreds of people you both served join in prayers of gratitude for your lives and now join in prayers for you, Vern, and your family. We have always enjoyed our relationship with Marlys & Vern, whom we have known for many years. Adelle was in a rosemaling (Norwegian decorative painting) group with Marlys that has met in Soughton for many years on a weekly basis. Marlys was an active participant in this group and completed many artistic projects. Vern would often come with her especially as her health declined and then lead all of those attending in saying the blessing at coffee break time. Vern was able to help provide care for Marlys in the retirement community where they both have lived recently. We will miss Marlys, and want to extend our deepest sympathy to Vern and the family. I did not know Marlys and Vern for very long. Met them through our Rosemaling at Stoughton and a couple times in their home. I got yo a lot of their Nativity Scenes and other artifacts they had acquired in their travels..I enjoyed painting with Marlys and my other friends , also our fellowship over our coffee time and Vern"s prayer that were shared plus all the interesting conversations we shared. What a wonderful gal Marlys was. Enjoyed painting with her. I loved seeing all of the nativity sets she and Vern had and hearing about all of their travels. RIP now, you are in God's loving hands. Barb Swenson
