Adelaide C McElroy

NORTHBROOK, ILLINOIS-Adelaide C. (Wallace) McElroy, age 88, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016. She was born on February 21, 1928 in New York, NY, the daughter of Joseph (Sienkiewicz) Wallace and Joanna Swiderski. She married John P. McElroy on May 28, 1949 in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York; he preceded her in death in 1992. After moving to Illinois in 1950, she was a housewife and later employed with Lincoln Rock Corporation until her retirement in 1988. In 1989, Adelaide and her husband moved to Delray Beach, Florida. Adelaide had a variety of interests including reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, and playing bridge, and she was active with St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Northbrook, Illinois and St. Thomas Catholic Church in Delray Beach, Florida. She loved entertaining. Adelaide is survived by her children, Christopher (Lynda) McElroy, Joan McElroy, Elise (Scott) Bunce, Dean (Teresa Leavitt) McElroy; sister, Barbara Jansen; and seven grandchildren.
