Obituary
MADISON / MONONA / MERRILL– Bonny Jean Boyd, age 75, passed away at her home in Monona, supported by family and dear friends on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016. Bonny was born on June 15, 1941, in Reedsburg, Wis., to Alex and Mildred (Spears) Boyd, and was the third youngest of seven children.
She loved her children, grandchildren and extended family. Bonny also loved her "adopted" George family. She loved her many friends, especially her bible study friends, her "Thursday night" girls, K-Mart crew and dear friend, Gloria. Bonny loved the godly leadership, pastoral guidance/support from Cal, Wayne, Chris, Joe, Doug and others. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bonny worked hard and served joyfully. She worked at K-Mart in a variety of roles and developed life-long friendships over 30+ years from the time the store opened until it closed. Bonny served several years in the infant nursery, volunteered in the church office and was eventually brought on staff as receptionist. Upon "retirement" she continued to serve others and became the daily dog-walker for "her" pups - Daisy, Nikko and Joey. Bonny knew well the not uncommon pain, tragedy and loss that can be experienced in this world. But by and through the love, grace and redeeming power of Christ, she overcame it all. In the words of a dear friend, "she finished well." We love you mom and will miss you until we meet again. Bonny is survived by her two daughters, Kelli F. (Michael) George and Lisa M. Travis; grandchildren, Kyle E. Pegelow, Alex J. George, Ashley N. (Nathan) Picker and Erin M. (Kyle) Brunner; step-grandchildren, Samantha (Elliott) Mergen and Spencer (Becca) George; great-grandchildren, Marissa Ann, William Patrick and Hadley Olivia; step great-grandson, Gavin Charles; and brothers, Wilbert, Dean, Dale (Sally), Gale and Harold. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Elliott (married 1959); son, Steven Alex; husband, Ronald J. Travis (married 1966); parents, Alex and Mildred; sister, Rita; and brother, Lloyd. Bonny's family is planning a Celebration of Her Life, at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan.21, 2017, with lunch to follow. A family visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. What an angel. She took care of our boy Tony (now 15) when he was little. Every time she saw him at church, she would always remind him (which embarrassed him as he got older, LOL).

Lisa and Kelly and family,
Do not know if you remember me, but worked with Bonnie at Kmart for several years. A very special, kind hearted person who was tested in many times and ways in her life but always came through it better. She will be missed by many. Wish I could have gotten to the last Kmart get-together and seen her smiling face one more time. Sorry I will not be able to make it to her memorial but she will be in my thoughts and prayers as well as the rest of you. You can be proud of her work and life ethic which I am sure she passed on to each of you. God Bless! Gary Lemke.
