Betty Holen

MONONA-Betty J. Holen, age 92, passed away on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare, peacefully in her sleep. She was born on Dec. 8, 1924, in Clifton Township, Grant County, Wis., the daughter of Adolph and Emma (Witzig) Dersch. Betty graduated from Fennimore High School in 1942 and attended Madison Business College. She married Theodore Holen on April 24, 1954. Betty worked for the U.S. Government for the Office of Price Administration (OPA), the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veteran's Auxiliary. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Ted of 62 years; daughter, Karen (Greg) Kehring; son, Eric (Lori) Holen; five grandchildren, Nathun (Beth) Holen and Sarah (Brad) Guler, Gregorey (Jill) Kehring and Jacob (Tina) Kehring and Jarrod (Allie) Kehring; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Ethun; nephews, Greg and David Dersch; nieces, Sandy Johnson and Lyn Jordan; and sisters-in-law, Jane, Yvonne, Carolyn and Geneva. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois (Herbert) Gunderson; twin brother, Benny (Ruth) Dersch; and brothers, Lowell (Gladys) Dersch, Charles (Ida) Dersch and Max (Mary) Dersch. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 Noon on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
