Obituary
MADISON-James T. Hosking, age 77, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on Feb. 9, 1939, in Ironwood, Mich., the son of Clayton and Martha (Panich) Hosking. He attended Fowlerville (Michigan) High School where he lettered in track and football. James proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1958 through 1963. James served as a Generals driver during a portion of his honorable service. He enjoyed boating, NASCAR and riding his Harley. James is survived by children, Scott (Julie) and Michele (Ed) Detmer; grandchildren, Sam, Colton, Logan, Wyatt and Dylan; mother of his children, Nancy Coffey; brothers, Don (Susie), Dave (Wilma), Dale (Jeanne), John and Brian Hosking; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; significant other, Sue Mathison; and two brothers, Bob and Rick; and step-mother, Mary. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016. Burial with military honors will be held at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 3054 Cty Rd. BB, Madison, at 3 p.m., following the gathering on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, www. Dav.org/donate. The family would like to thank the staff at New Glarus Home for their patience and compassionate care. Jimmy, was a great man. In 1979 his son Scott and I would go too Jim's pool hall, (Rotten Rodney's) for years shooting pool, eating and drinking soda as we were 15/16 yrs old. Jim would take all of us boating and skiing too. His fun and funny personality always made our outings eventful & exciting. Jim's was a tough marine and I helped him as he struggled with his diabetes in 2012. Jim had a great heart, strong wit, and was a well loved man. R.I.P. My good friend. Plus Scott & Michelle I'm so sorry for your loss, he will be missed; but his memorable times will live forever - which makes him immortal, love Jay

Our heartfelt sympathy goes to your family. We received the news of Jim’s passing and our hearts are heavy. We appreciate the 20 plus years that we had Jim as a part of our family. We shared many joys and adored his great sense of humor and outlook on life. We are grateful for the camping, boating, motorcycle times and get togethers with him and his family. We are sitting around the table now laughing and reminiscing about all the great times we had with him and Sue. We are so appreciative of the love he brought into Sue’s life. What a caring and determined man. We love how he could be the tough marine and soft hearted teddy bear all in one sitting. We hope your memories give you comfort at this difficult time. We will always cherish our time with him and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
