COTTAGE GROVE - Dennis Dean Patterson, age 80, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on May 22, 1944, in Madison, Wis., the son of David and Norma (Lee) Patterson.
Dennis graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1963. He served as a radio man in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963 - 1967. On Jan. 30, 1965, he married Shirly (Lundeberg) Patterson.
Dennis was a talented photographer; he took classes to improve his expertise and developed the ability to take beautiful pictures. He was also self-taught on the computer and enjoyed gaming, especially flight simulator. Prior to retirement he worked as a program developer in publishing for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and designed the manuals distributed to the DMV and high schools for driver's licensure. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Monona.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Shirly; daughter, Wendy Patterson; son, Todd Patterson; grandchild, Tonya Patterson; great-grandchild, Arrionna Patterson; twin sister, Sandra Larson, and sister, Patricia Glow. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Patterson; aunts, Kay Lee Doris (Lee) Swamer and Orabelle Buckley; and grandmother, Rose Lee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday.
