Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE-Lee C. Phillips, age 76, of Cottage Grove, passed away in a room full of love on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016. He was born on Jan. 30, 1940, to the son of Lee and Bernice (Dahl) Phillips, and lived on the family farm in Cottage Grove all of his life. Lee married Judy (Bernhagen) Phillips on Aug. 8, 1959. He worked for Landmark Coop for 47 years. Lee served in the Wisconsin National Guard as a medic with the 13th Evac unit for nine years. He was a member of the Lions Club and served as President. Lee was a member of the Boy Scouts and served as a Scout Master for 17 years. He served as President of the Historical Society for eight years and organized their brat feeds. Lee was one of the founders of the Cottage Grove Snowmobile Club. He was known as "Mr. Community" always volunteering and lending a helping hand. Lee loved feeding the birds, hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, beeping, waterskiing, bowling, coin and stamp collecting and snowmobiling. He had a passion for all of his pets, especially his Boston Terriers. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; daughter, Julie Lynn (Ron Ring) Phillips; son, Randy Lee (Michelle) Phillips; two granddaughters, Brenda Lee (Brandon) Ivey and Christine Ann (Logan) Ewing; grandson, Robert Lee Phillips; great-grandson, Mason Paul Ewing; three great-granddaughters, Rylee Ellen Ewing, Lily Mae Ivey, and Emma Lee Ivey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (Wayne) Smithback. Funeral services will be held at BRYN MAWR PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 229 North Main St, Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, with the Rev. Matthew Ploeger presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family which will go to the Wisconsin Lions Youth Camp and UW Cancer Research. All Scouts and Lions Club members are welcome to wear their uniforms. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Lee. He was my best friends dad. Every time I came to the house he always welcomed me in as part of the family. He will be deeply missed by many. God Bless.
