Peter Gilbertson

LODI-Peter Martin Gilbertson, age 77, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. Pete was born on November 4, 1939 in Kasota, Minnesota to Peter and Adeline Gilbertson. He was raised by his father and stepmother Lillian Gilbertson. Pete served in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years serving in Japan, Texas and Grand Rapids, MN. Pete worked building electrical power lines in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin for over 40 years. He retired in 2002 from line construction work throughout the Midwest, primarily Wisconsin and Minnesota. Pete and his partner remodeled a summer cottage on Lake Wisconsin into a year round home. He loved to ride his Honda three wheel motorcycle throughout the country and go fishing. Pete lived in Minnesota, Sauk Prairie, Madison, DeForest and Lodi, WI. He is survived by his soulmate, Karon Hamilton; his children, Dawn (John) Miller and Joel (Lori) Gilbertson. Pete is also survived by two grandchildren, Tyler (Rachael) and Samantha (Steve) and a great granddaughter, Sunny. He is further survived by Karon's daughter, Michele (James) Rolfe and her children, Ryan and Ava. Three stepbrothers, Clem, Bobbie and John survive him. Pete was preceded in death by his father; stepmother; two brothers; one sister and his mother. Memorial Services will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL HOME, 157 South Main St., Lodi, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Maplewood nursing home for the wonderful care Pete received while there.
