Obituary
Sun Prairie - Elroy L. Croissant, age 92, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1929, in Stoughton, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth (Atkinson) Croissant.
He married Marcella Crase on Nov. 5, 1949. Elroy worked for Red Dot Foods- Frito Lay for over 25 years, then the University of Wisconsin Physical Plant for 20 years until his retirement in 1994. Following retirement, Elroy enjoyed bird watching and going for walks where he often visited with neighbors. He was an avid Packers fan and a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church.
Elroy is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marcella Croissant; son, Richard; five daughters, Terra (Neal) Jensen, Rita (Timothy) Hughes, Lora (Michael) Affholder, Linda (Roger) Reinert and Brenda “Bernadette” Croissant; and daughter-in-law, Marleen Croissant. Elroy adored his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas L. Croissant Sr.; and two daughters, Jeanne Croissant and Janet Linsley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson St., DeForest, at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held at church on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

Dear Cousin Peeps and Aunt Marcy, I am thinking about you all and fondly remembering family gatherings when we had the chance to be “cousins” together. It was a wonderful thing— Who knew so many in our generation would move out of the Madison area so that our own children might not have had the same opportunities as we dis to make memories with their cousins. Back in the day, potato chips were a rare treat in my parent’s household. It was always especially cool when your dad added this favorite treat to our big family gatherings. My favorite memories will always be his smile, his laugh and the happiness he portrayed. Marcie and Roy were two of my favorite people growing up. The love they showed me, I show others, through God's word. Heaven certainly gained an angel. Hugs and prayers to the entire family. Dear Aunt Marcy, Rick, Tara, Rita, Lora, Linda, Brenda and Marleen, I am sorry for your sorrow. What a great picture of your dad (Uncle Elroy). He was always laughing and smiling when we saw him - and ready to plant a big kiss at each hello. I enjoyed our gatherings for the holidays with 22 cousins, 6 adults plus grandma and grandpa - think about it - that was 30 people downstairs in Grandma and Grandpa's house for the holidays and we all squeezed in without a care. I will miss Elroy's laugh, smile and jovial nature. We grew up in difficult times and our parents worked really hard to raise us the best they could. The family was always most important after God of course. I am grateful they raised us with faith. God bless you, Uncle Elroy.
