MADISON - Clement J. Pittz, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Legacy of DeForest. He was born on February 8, 1935, in Dodgeville, and lived on a farm in Mineral Point, the son of William and Loretta (Palzkill) Pittz.
Clement graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1953, barber school in Peoria, IL, and later attended MATC (Madison College). He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. On October 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Cleary at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hollandale.
Madison was Clement’s home for 55 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to “lay down the law.” Before settling in Madison, he worked as a barber in Beloit and owned barbershops in Monroe and on Monona Drive. He later worked for 28 years as a forklift operator on the loading dock at Oscar Mayer, followed by a position at Annen’s Machinery. A true handyman, Clement enjoyed staying busy, working on projects, and owning and renting properties.
Clement was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights. His faith remained important to him, and he enjoyed watching the St. Dennis Mass livestream. He loved the outdoors, visiting his brothers’ farms, and searching for treasures at garage sales and auctions.
Following an amputation, Clement rode a scooter for nearly 20 years, never letting it slow him down. He enjoyed watching Westerns and listening to country music and was a devoted animal lover, especially fond of Mandy, Harley and Murphy. Above all, Clement treasured his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Clement is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Pam (George) Annen and Tammy Pittz; sons, Dale Pittz and David "Dave" (Kristine) Pittz; grandchildren, Brittany (Michael), Bethany (Ryan), Corey (Brittany), Jacob and Mario (Jamie); and great-granddaughter, Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Loretta, as well as many brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, with Father Bill Nolan presiding.
