Obituary
MADISON-Ronald James Nelson, age 77, passed away from Alzheimer's Disease on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at Heritage Memory Care in Monona. He was born on March 21, 1939, the only child of Amos and Isabelle Nelson. Ron married Darilee K. Randall on June 10, 1961. He worked for Madison Metro Bus Company for many years, retiring in 2001. Ron enjoyed hunting, gardening, traveling, and watching car races and Packers games. Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darilee; son, Randall (Peggy) Nelson; daughters, Kimberly (Shawn) Crary and Leanne Nelson; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Brady and Kayla Crary. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Messiah Lutheran Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to Heritage Memory Care in Monona and to Heartland Hospice for all of their care given to Ron. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
