MADISON-Edith Holmes, age 84, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at home. She was born on July 12, 1932, in Bark River, Mich., the daughter of Ralph and Hazel Gasman. In 1955, she married William Holmes. Edith loved the Badgers, Packers, Hallmark movies and her lottery and pull-tabs. She also enjoyed watching nature, birds, flowers and deer. Edith is survived by her children, Bob Lee (Linda Marks), Terry (Bob) Hayden, Scott (Kris) Holmes and Brandi Sigurslid; grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Lee, Matt (Molly) Schmock, Tim (Dana) Schmock and Josh and Kelsey Holmes; great-grandsons, Tate and Fletcher; sisters, Ethel West and Ellen Lutes; sisters-in-law, Martha Ripp and Rome Holmes; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Lee and William Holmes; son, Ricky; and several brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to donor's choice. The family would like to give special thanks to Cheryl at BrightStar for all of her care and support. I've know Edie for most of my life and worked with her at Eagle Foods for many years and she will be missed by all that came to know her there, either as a customer or co-worker. Thoughts are with Bob, Terry, Scott and Brandi and their loved ones. Rest well, Edie Mae.

Edie was a sweet, loving Grandmother. I first met Edie at Piggly Wiggly on Northport Dr. She was well-liked by all that knew her. She will surely be missed by her family and friends. I am sorry for your loss on this side of Heaven. Be comforted that you can see her again one day. With love, Mira

My deepest sympathy to the Holmes family. I knew Terry and she would talk about her Mom at work (Webcrafter's) . From what I gathered she was full of joy and had lot of love for her family. Mrs. Holmes was such a nice person to Cheryl and I. I grew up with them as friends and neighbors and some workers and school friends.

Trig's buddy Bill and Edie's wonderful smile and laugh Although we left Madison in 1960. We always missed my High School friends. I know Edie suffered in later years but she always was her same happy self. I want to share are thoughts with the children I knew as very young kids
