Dorothy Blumreich

MADISON–Dorothy Marie Blumreich, age, 96, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, in Cottage Grove. She was born on July 22, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Otto and Ethel Seifeld. Dorothy met LaVerne Blumreich in Tigerton, Wis., and they were married on March 24, 1945. She was a typist at the State of Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department for five years and secretary at La Follette High School for 19 years. Dorothy and LaVerne enjoyed retirement in Ocala, Fla., for six years. She was an active member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church since 1946. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the House of Thrift and Meadow Grove, where she resided for several years. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, walking and playing cards. Dorothy is survived by her son, Bob of Yosemite, Calif.; granddaughter, Rebecca Guisti of Diamond Bar, Calif.; and son-in-law, John Guisti of St. Mary City, Md. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband LaVerne in 1987; and daughter, Susan in 1993. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Sunday. A private family interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
