Obituary
Katharina Mack was born on March 13, 1942 in Krndija, Austria-Hungary, daughter of Maximilian and Magdalena Mack. She had an adventurous childhood arriving in this country at the age 9 and moved to the filthy city of Pittsburgh where later her daughter would end up residing. Katherina happily ended up in Chicago where she met the love of her life, the gorgeous dark man who loved jazz, music, dancing, good times and mostly HER. From the very beginning to the last day they spent together, he called her "Bunny".
Katherina married Bernard Paul Carreon on May 5, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois and became part of the Carreon family. They were married for 54 wonderful, blessed years. She held many different jobs throughout her life, from working in the hat department at Wiebolt's Department store in Chicago, to being a beautician and teaching her kids how to cut, color and perm, to volunteering at her children's schools, cleaning houses, running a daycare out of her home, and taxi driver for her three busy kids. But the job she did the best, was being Mom to her kids.
In 1970, she and Bernie were blessed with their first child Renata, sixteen months later Bernie Max joined the crew. It was always fun to watch how close Bernie and Renata were, but the family was not complete until their baby sister, Brigitte arrived in 1976.
Kathy made sure family came first. Always taking the kids on vacation, driving them to private school and the endless dance classes, and making sure every holiday was a special event with endless amounts of food and gifts. There was always music being played, valuable lessons being learned and love being shown. She was not one to throw much away and could convince you that the old pantyhose with the holes in them could be reused to child-proof cabinets, tie toilet flappers or hang a Christmas ornament if need be!
Kathy was born to be a caregiver not only to her husband and kids, but her own parents, who she took care of until the day they retired from this world. Her job here is done and her new mission takes her to wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, gardening, eating to her hearts delight and having a reunion with family and friends that she has not seen in a long time.
Katherina is survived by her husband, Bernard Paul Carreon; two daughters, Renata Katherine(Anthony) Marino, Brigitte Katherine (Peter) Luksha; a son, Bernard Maximilian (Bao) Carreon; and six grandchildren, Anthony Maximilian, Giavanna Marie, Maximilian Le, Mia An, Sebastian Severin and Gabriel Eugene who will continue to carry on her traditions and celebrate her love of life and family.
She was an active member of St. Dennis Catholic Church.
A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016.

Our deepest sympathies to Kathy's family.
We have such fond memories of our neighbors on Stein Ave. Driving the kids to dance lessons, school activities, and the joy of watching them play together. We remember how excited Bernie and Kathy were when they moved from the neighborhood to a bigger house that would have room for Kathy's folks to live with them.
Sincerely,
Patti and Don Prechel
