Richard Allred

Madison - Richard Allred, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on September 15, 1932, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Samuel and Mary (Kovar) Allred. Richard was always very proud of his service in the Korean War in which he served as an Army Sergeant. After the war, he married Phyllis Bork on April 27, 1957 in Milwaukee, WI. During his many years in Milwaukee, Richard worked as a Lithographer for Continental Can Company. In addition, he worked for Walgreens, doing construction on new stores. He also devoted much time to bowling, developing quite a bit of a reputation. After retiring in 1987, Richard and Phyllis built a beautiful log home on Found Lake in St. Germain. There, Richard had a variety of interests including fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. He was also an active member of the Sayner Lions Club and American Legion Post 451. In later years he got much joy from Bingo, Brewers baseball, and Badger football and basketball.  Richard is survived by two daughters, Jordyce Natzke, Holly (Ron) Prince; two sons, Richard (Alicia) Allred Jr., Thomas (Christine) Allred; 9 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Phyllis L. Allred; mother, Mary L. Allred; father, Samuel Allred; four sisters, Sharon, Virginia, Betty and Theresa; and four brothers, George, Ronald, Bud, and his twin brother, Robert.  Funeral services will be held at Monona Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4411 Monona Dr, Madison, at 11:00 am on Monday June 26, 2017, with Rev. Thomas Nowak presiding. Visitation will be held at the Church beginning at 9:30 am preceding the service. Burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery the following day.
