I met Bill at the Food pantry where he had a positive influence on clients and workers alike. . Even when macular degeneration kept him from directly helping clients, his presence raised the spirit of the pantry worker. I, with my husband, and Sandy and Bill tried to meet for lunch each week - at least 700 times of good food and great conversation. . My husband and Bill often went to Monroe for their favorite "stinky" (known as Limburger) cheese Despite his blindness from macular degeneration Bill retain an uncanny sense of direction, often giving directions when the Garmin malfunctioned.. I'll always treasure Bill's warm smile, enjoyment of people, his quick wit, intellectual inquisitiveness and love of history.
