Obituary
STOUGHTON-Carl H. Steva, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the age of 88. Born to Carl and Naomi Steva on Oct. 13, 1928, in Ohio, he came to Wisconsin to pursue his college degree. In school he met Caroline Grether, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1953 in Madison. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in science education from the U.W., which he used to teach at Verona HS, Monticello HS, and later MATC (Madison College). Carl raised three boys, Matthew, David, and Jonathan with his wife Caroline. After retirement he and Caroline enjoyed lots of traveling, or “gallivanting,” including spending their winters in Ajo, Ariz. Carl thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. Carl’s family remembers him as a kind-hearted, loving man who was devoted to his family. He is survived by wife, Caroline; two sons, Matthew (Lisa) Steva and Jonathan (Kevin) Steva; sister, Lois (Clarence) Christian; brother, Pete (Jean) Steva; six grandchildren, Adam, Ryan, Caitlin, Naomi, Onnolee, and Gracie; and five great-grandchildren, Mikeal, Leah, Caroline, Evelyn, and Alice. He was preceded in death by son, David Steva; both parents; and two siblings. The Celebration of Carl’s life will be held at VENNEVOLL CLUB HOUSE, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, Wi.,(near Skaalen Nursing Home off Ridge St.) at 1 p.m. on Sunday June 11, 2017. Memorials may be gifted in Carl’s name to Agrace HospiceCare. You have my condolences for your loss. Mr. Steva was my teacher for one class (1960??) at Verona HS and I attended grade school right across the highway from your home. Matthew was very young. Again, sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences. Carl was my teacer at Verona High for Geometry, Math IV and Physics. He was the best teacher I had in high school and prepared this averge student for success in college.

You lived in the house on County Road M. I played with Mathew and David. Even after you moved, my Mom would take me out to your new place to play with them. I had thought of Carl and Caroline a little over 2 weeks ago. I was wondering how things were for you. But now I guess I know. Rest in peace Carl, you did your work here. As a teacher you were great and cared a lot for your students success. I know they are ever so grateful. As Chuck Hanson says an average student to do well in College. You did it all.
To Caroline, Mathew, and John, you have my Deepest Sympathy.

Dear Caroline, I'm so sorry to hear of Carl's death. I have happy memories of both of you in years gone by as well as two lamps that Carl rewired with which to remember him.

The Bitzer family would like to offer our deep condolences on your loss. Carl was part of our lives in many ways, for many years. He was a neighbor, teacher, and father of boys who were in our classes. I remember him as a kind and patient man, and as a very good high school geometry teacher who made the subject comprehensible and interesting. During your time of great loss I would like to offer my condolences and what has helped me during my losses. During Jesus earlthy ministry he performed several resurrection miracles one of the many known miracles is that of Lazarus his close friend. By this mircle Jesus showed on a small scale what will take place on earth under the rule of God's kingdom. Acts 24:15 states " And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous." Such awesome comfort that exists for us that have lost their loved ones in death during such turbulant times.
