Obituary

STOUGHTON - David Kent Selbo, age 74, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1951, in Lacrosse, the son of Warren and Margie (Sween) Selbo.


David graduated from Stoughton High School in 1969. He then went on to attend UW-Lacrosse where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, going to home talent baseball games, watching football and basketball games, playing Bridge, reading and spending time with family and friends.


David is survived by his significant other, Jean Schnoor; two sons, Jordan Selbo and Spencer (Jenny) Selbo; daughter, Paige (Mason) Selbo; three grandchildren, Everett Selbo, Alex Petrie and Pryce Petrie; stepdaughter, Nicole Schnoor; stepson, Jeff (Trudie) Schnoor; brothers, John (Bernie) Selbo and Paul (Sue) Selbo; sister-in-law, Tammy Selbo; and many nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Warren; and brother, Luther.


A funeral service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, with Pastor Paula Geister-Jones presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

To Jean and all the Selbo family: We met David when he was in 8th grade and already showed his athletic abilities. We enjoyed watching him play basketball and baseball while a student at Stoughton High School. David and Jean were in the same pew at Christ Lutheran every Sunday and would always greet us and others around him. We are thankful we were blessed with his presence in the Stoughton School System as well as Christ Lutheran Church. To Daviid's family I am among David's friends from years ago. I enjoyed sharing time with David and his brothers' as they established names as good students, athletes and citizens. I was saddened in learning of his loss and want to know that I felt blessed to have known David and the Selbo family during my life journey. May his family be inspired by the association shared during his lifetime. Sadly, but grateful Ole Brekke P.s. please extend my sympathy to John and Paul as well. Thanks
