Marilyn C. Wood

STOUGHTON-Marilyn C. Wood, age 90, of Stoughton, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Nazareth Health & Rehab. She was born on March 7, 1927, in Merrimac, the daughter of George and Irene (Knipschield) Eckstein. She married James Wood on June 26, 1947. Marilyn was raised on her family farm having to care for her siblings at age 12, following her mother's death. Her care and compassion continued in raising her eight children and providing loving care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marilyn's desire to serve others continued as a dietary clerk for Stoughton Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. She is survived by her son, Craig (Joni) Wood; four daughters, Lea Anne (Richard) Dvorak, Linda (Larry) Brager, Carolyn (Donald) Kvalheim and Cheryl (Herbert) Lehman Jr.; her brother, Robert (JoAnn) Eckstein; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, James, Jeffery and Steven "Chip" Wood; parents; three brothers, Andrew, George, and Gerald Eckstein; and three sisters, Anita and Irene Eckstein and Carol Thompson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANN CATHOLIC PARISH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 29, 2017, with Father Randy Budnar presiding. Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
