Robert Wiliam Plummer

MADISON-Robert William Plummer, age 91, died on April 16, 2017, at Alden Estates in Jefferson, with his daughter Caroline by his side and his deceased daughter, Mary Lou, in spirit. He was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Harold and Lorine (Taylor) Plummer. At the age of 17, Robert volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a gunner during World War II and then again in the Korean War in 1950, where he earned a Purple Heart. He was proud to serve his country with his family, his father, Harold Plummer served with the 32nd Aero Squadron; his sister, Mary Janet served in the Waves and his sister, Anne Ferguson designed the pitch on the props for the P-51s. Robert completed a degree in business finance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked as an insurance agent for his entire career. He married Edie Martin on April 28, 1979. They had a remarkable and loving relationship, which they enjoyed with an extended family of 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren! They lived in the Madison/Stoughton area for most of their lives with a lovely stint in Englewood Florida. "Grandpa Bob" was greatly revered and will be greatly missed by all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert is survived by his daughter, Caroline; and Edie's children, who he loved as his own, Jeff Martin, Linda Martin, Gina Martin and Carol Otterson.
