Obituary
Madison - Sherrill R. Otteson, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Waunakee Manor. She was born on Dec. 12, 1934, in Stoughton, Wis., the daughter of Johnnie Otteson and Deloy (Dahn) Otteson.
Sherrill was a proud Norwegian who graduated from Stoughton Highschool. She enjoyed a 40-year career working as an administrator for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation. She was a dedicated hard worker who after retiring from her position remained on as a contract employee well into her 80s. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, with her twin sister and friends to Hayward and Las Vegas being two of her favorite locations to visit. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for gatherings as well as taking treats to work, most notably her krumkake “curlers,” lemon bars, and creamsicle cake. She also enjoyed going out to eat at supper clubs and relaxing with a Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet. Sherrill took great pleasure in being a grandmother and great-grandma. She loved dogs and was an avid Badgers and Packers fan.
Sherrill is survived by her daughters, Janell (Keith) Bailey, Tammy (Scott) Weiner and Amy (Rachid) Miniya; son, Bruce (Melissa) Christensen; sister, Shirley Jones; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; long-time companion, Keith; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlene (Norman) Peterson; and brother-in-law, William Jones and Norman Peterson.
A funeral service will be held at Gunderson Stoughton Funeral AND Cremation Care, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Burial will be held at Lutheran East Cemetery, Stoughton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Tuesday.
