Obituary
STOUGHTON - Ramona C. (Wanta) Klatt, age 99, passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2023, at Milestone Senior Living facility in Stoughton, Wis.
Ramona was born on Aug. 27, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Daniel and Wonda (Bembenic) Wanta. She graduated from Riverside High School and then worked for over 20 years with the Milwaukee public school food service section, mostly at Custer High School.
Ramona is survived by her younger sister, Bernadette (Wanta) Lensby of Mauston, Wis.; four children, Kenneth (Sally Moy) Klatt of Franklin, Wi, Karen A. Neal (David) of Phoenix, Ariz., Richard Klatt (Jayne) of Big Bend, Wis., Sandra Jacquet (Randy) of Richland Center, Wis.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew; and a loving friend for many years, Deb Neal of Stoughton, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ervin Klatt Jr.; her brothers, Jerry, and Daniel; and sister, Elanore Gorczany (Stanley).
After she and her husband retired, they moved to their dream home "Happy Muskellunge Lake" near Lake Tomahawk, Wis. After nearly 20 years on the lake they moved to Stoughton, Wis., to the Skaalen Retirement Community to be closer to family.
Ramona had a down to earth, common sense, and hard-working demeanor coupled with Christian values honed in a working class family of the thirties. She possessed a regal beauty with an inviting smile that enhanced her natural kindness. Her calm and uncomplaining personality endeared her to everyone and was a role model for her entire family.
In later life she became interested in the stock market and became a self- taught investor. She remarked one time about her investment approach, "I read extensively, watch Forbes, listen to my financial advisor and then decide for myself."
Her guiding influence of being a caring mom, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a kind and gentle friend will be missed. Her legacy will be of a beautiful person in all respects who did it right, lived a full and robust life, and left those who knew her far better off.
There will be no funeral. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
