STOUGHTON - Doris Marie Brietzman, age 86, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Skaalen Nursing and Rehab. She was born on September 10, 1939, in Vermont Township, Wis., the daughter of Carl and Mabel (Kleppe) Hauge.


Doris was a proud graduate of Stoughton High School. On July 12, 1969, she was united in marriage to Richard Brietzman at First Lutheran Church in Stoughton. She dedicated an incredible 53 years of service to Skaalen before retiring in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and commitment.


In her free time, Doris found joy in attending garage sales and, most importantly, in spending time with her beloved family. She will be remembered as a warm and genuinely happy person who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.


Doris is survived by her children,  Sheila (Terry) Rigdon, Jeff (Christy) McFadden, Cheryl Olson and Kay Johnson; grandchildren, Melissa (Mike), Jennifer (Chad), Michael (Vicki), Andrew (Ashley), Jossie (Doug), Nanette, April, Keiah, and Mikala, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Milo, Joe, Ashlyn, Gavin, Caleb, Elizabeth, Madison, Laylaa and Scarlet; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Carl and Mabel; brothers, Mike, Glenn and Grant; and great-granddaughter, Brooklynn.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 12 noon on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.


The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare as well as Skaalen for the wonderful care they provided.

I knew Doris from working at Skaalen. I remember her as a kind abd caring person who loved to laugh. We were both involved in union activities. Several times we went to the theater together to see a movie and enjoy some pizza. Rest in peace sweet lady. Karen Lien

I currently work at Skaalen on Forest view, starting work at Skaalen, Doris has continuously the light of my job, she would talk, color and play bored games. She would hold my hands for comfort telling my hands were cold or warm. She would always talk to me about her daughter and the blanket she had in her room. I forever will remember and cherish the moments i had with Doris and i’m so glad to be able to help her in her final stages of life. I send my condolences to all her loved ones
