Joyce Witherspoon

FITCHBURG, WI - Joyce Lianne Witherspoon, age 88, of Fitchburg, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Oregon Manor in Oregon, WI. She was born on September 22, 1932, in Evansville, IN, the daughter of Raymond T. and Alberta Hames Couch. Joyce graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in Evansville, IN. She married Franklin V. Witherspoon Jr. at Howell United Methodist Church in Evansville, IN, on August 15, 1951. For many years Joyce owned a court transcriptionist business named Joy Typing Service. Joyce loved her family and moved to Madison, WI, after her retirement to be closer to family. She raised six children and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Joyce proudly graduated with a degree in Psychology from Indiana University - Bloomington along with her two eldest sons, F. Douglas and David, on the same day in 1976. Joyce is survived by her brother, Raymond T. Couch Jr. of Evansville, IN; her children, F. Douglas (Margaret) Witherspoon, David (Becky) Witherspoon, Susan (Fred) Hawkins, Steve (Vicki) Witherspoon, Linda (Mike) Happe, and Rebecca (Rick) Witherspoon; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, K. Elise Witty. Joyce will be interred at Alexander Memorial Park Garden of Prayer, in Evansville, IN, at a date to be determined.
